Sequel Ortho partner OrthoNebraska is welcoming three new surgeons to its team, expanding the specialized care available for shoulder, elbow, hand and wrist conditions, joint replacement and sports injuries.
Dr. Andrew Nahr will begin seeing patients at the end of August, followed by Dr. Michael Otten in mid-September and Dr. Samuel Davidson at the end of September. Their arrival adds even more depth to OrthoNebraska’s subspecialty model, connecting patients with physicians whose expertise is focused on the specific conditions they treat.
Dr. Andrew Nahr Brings a Personalized Approach to Shoulder & Elbow Care
Dr. Andrew Nahr specializes in shoulder and elbow care, joint replacement and sports medicine. He was drawn to OrthoNebraska’s physician-led, subspecialized model and the opportunity to build his practice closer to family in Omaha.
His approach centers on helping patients understand their condition and choose a treatment that fits their individual goals. “The same condition can often be treated in several different ways, and there is not always one right answer for everyone,” Dr. Nahr said.
He is also excited about advances in shoulder care, including robotics, artificial intelligence and advanced planning for shoulder replacement, as well as new techniques designed to support healing in complex rotator cuff tears.
Dr. Michael Otten Expands Hand & Wrist Expertise
Dr. Michael Otten specializes in hand, wrist and elbow care and sports medicine, treating conditions ranging from arthritis and injuries to peripheral nerve problems.
“Every patient has a story, goals and expectations, and I aim to help patients achieve a successful individual outcome,” Dr. Otten said.
He is particularly interested in evolving treatments in his specialty, including prosthetic joint implants. As he joins OrthoNebraska, Dr. Otten is most looking forward to helping patients alleviate pain and restore function in their hands and upper extremities.
Dr. Samuel Davidson Strengthens Hip, Knee and Joint Replacement
Dr. Samuel Davidson will join OrthoNebraska at the end of September, bringing specialized expertise in hip and knee care and joint replacement. An Omaha native who trained at UNL and UNMC, he is returning to his hometown to begin the next chapter of his career.
He brings experience with advances shaping modern joint replacement, from robotics and muscle-sparing techniques to improved pain management and implant design.
“There are so many exciting new technologies in joint replacement surgery. Robotics, muscle-sparing approaches, better perioperative pain control, advances in implant design — the field is abuzz with innovations helping make surgeries more precise and personalized and recoveries faster and more predictable.
While technology is exciting, Dr. Samuelson believes it complements good judgment and patient-centered care, so he looks forward to building lasting relationships and helping patients in the community he has always called home to return to the activities they love.
